Areas (Square Skills)

WALT: Focus on place value, and on comparing lengths, widths, and areas.

For this task, we had to figure out the factors of 36, and then we had to find out the area for each factor.

Speeches

WALT: Write an interesting persuasive argument

For this task, Ahipara school had to write a speech about a few topics I write my speech about I think pets deserve the same care as humans.

I really enjoyed writing and saying my speech because I felt scared at first but after I read my speech I felt like I did a good job.

Do pets deserve the same care as humans?

Do you think pets deserve the same care as humans because I do and today I will be telling you about what I think about why pets deserve the same care as humans?

I think pets deserve the same care as humans because people sometimes hurt pets by kicking and throwing them around including puppies and cats people also sell pets to make money like little puppies and little kittens

Cats

Do you think that cats have nine lives well no! Cats have only one life just like any other living creature. However, a cat is probably the most independent pet out there. They can survive falls and other serious accidents without being fatally wounded, which is perhaps where the saying 'a cat has nine lives' actually comes from.

Dogs

Did you know that Dogs can serve people in many ways? For example, there are guard dogs, hunting dogs, herding dogs, guide dogs for blind people, and police dogs. There are also dogs that are trained to smell for diseases in the human body or to find bombs or illegal drugs. These dogs sometimes help police in airports or other areas.

Conclusion

And that is why I think we should treat animals the same as we treat each other.

Nonrenewable Energy Sources

WALT: Increase our knowledge by reading a wide range of texts (Article a day - Book of Knowledge)

On Readworks, our task was to read the text, and then we had to write two or three sentences of what we have learned.  I had fun reading and writing the text because it helped me learn more things about energy sources.

I have learned that energy sources are of two types: nonrenewable and renewable. Energy sources are considered nonrenewable if they cannot be replenished (made again) in a short period of time. On the other hand, renewable energy sources such as solar and wind can be replenished naturally. I have also learned that all fossil fuels are nonrenewable, but not all nonrenewable energy sources are fossil fuels coal, crude oil, and natural gas are all considered fossil fuels because they were formed from the buried remains of plants and animals that lived millions of years ago.

What are climate and climate change?

WALT: Increase our knowledge by reading a wide range of texts (Article a day - Book of Knowledge)
On Readworks, our task was to read the text, and then we had to write two or three sentences of what we have learned.  I had fun reading and writing the text because it helped me learn more things about climate change.

I have learned that the climate of a region or city is its typical or average weather. I have also learned that the climate of Hawaii is sunny and warm. But the climate of Antarctica is freezing cold.

Factors

WALT: Understand Factors
For this task, we had to figure out the factors of 24 but we had to do this task by only using time tables. We did this so we can figure out some questions with all of the factors adding up to 24. I was also working with a group including Kyvana, Maty, Kavelle, and Ryan.
